In the 1920s, Dr Max Gerson was afflicted with severe migraine headaches. An intelligent, methodical man, Dr Gerson went about attempting to isolate the cause of these migraines, and hopefully find a cure. He succeeded. At the time, he did not realize how well. His resulting therapies reached out to embrace a host of other degenerative diseases, including cancer.
Dr Gerson's successes gained the attention of Nobel Laureate Dr Albert Schweitzer, whose wife Dr Gerson cured of tuberculosis after all other efforts to cure her had failed. Then, using nothing but pure diet therapy, Dr Gerson continued onward to cure Dr Schweitzer of Diabetes II. Understandably, Drs Gerson and Schweitzer became lifelong friends. Dr Gerson practiced in Germany until 1933, when he emigrated to the United States to escape persecution by the Nazi regime.
Three years later, Dr Gerson settled in New York and began treating advanced cancer patients with astonishing success. His method of treating cancer patients became then, as it continues to be today, the most effective cancer treatment in existence. But he made the mistake of denouncing tobacco as a prime source of cancer, and since Philip Morris was the chief source of JAMA's advertising revenue, he ran afoul of its editor, Dr Morris Fishbein. In a statement issued by the AMA, Dr Gerson was all but called a quack and the American Medical Association solemnly intoned that there was no connection between tobacco, diet, and cancer.
Dr Gerson's first publication on cancer was in 1945, 40 years before the adoption of the current official U.S. National Cancer Institute program on diet, nutrition, and cancer. In 1958, after 30 years of clinical studies, Dr Gerson published his definitive volume, A Cancer Therapy - Results of 50 Cases. This went to firlmly establish the Gerson Therapy as the most effective and best documented cancer therapy in existence, where it remains firmly positioned to this day.
The Gerson Diet is a metabolic therapy that produces detoxification and nutritional replacement. It stimulates the body's own immune system to dissolve tumors. And the Gerson Diet works admirably well. The Gerson Therapy is acknowledged as the oldest, most effective, and best documented cancer therapy in existence. It has healed literally thousands of cancer patients and there is nothing the chemo business would rather do than keep it under wraps. The Gerson Therapy works on the principle that this condition can be reversed by flooding the body with fresh, organic nutrients by means of copious consumption of fresh squeezed, organically produced fruit and vegetable juices; eating them as well if the patient's health permits, and at the same time, flushing out the body's toxins rapidly by applying coffee enemas liberally during the day. The coffee enemas open the bile ducts and flush out the liver. The coffee enema, while distasteful to most people, is the most powerful detoxification method available. This book, written in layman's language, was inspired by the deaths from cancer of many close family  members including both parents. The diets, supplements, and protocols are clearly explained and easily understood. The emphasis on fresh raw fruits and vegetables is nothing new, except perhaps for the discussion of their enzyme content. I found his new points on melatonin and Vitamin D quite interesting. I found some enlightening information on the reasons to avoid certain foods. Soy, for example, is not the miraculous, nutritious food we have been led to believe. Soy beans, instead, are said to be downright unhealthful, even poisonous, and this book has me convinced.
My personal thoughts that kept cropping up as I read the book is that perhaps it would be unwise of anyone with cancer to try dealing with this devastating disease by himself, and as if to anticipate this comment, the author has thoughtfully provided a list of alternative cancer clinics.
